«Lo Spedalicchio», along the centuries, has always been a welcoming place for the travelers along the way between the city of Perugia, centre of power, and the city of Assisi, religious centre.

With the beginning of the conflicts between the two city-States, during the second half of the XVth century, the municipality of Perugia started the building of a military fortification located at the borders of its own territory, along an important communicarion way.

With the increased importance of the Pontifical State, the importance of the military fortication decreased, in favor of the raising of a village leaning against the internal walls of the defensive walls.

The noble family of the Eugeni counts, during the second half of the XVIIth century, built its own countryside residence, to make it become the centre of its agriculture activities, including in the building an antique Middle Ages tower.

«Lo Spedalicchio», located at the extreme north of the Umbrian valley, right in the middle between the cities of Perugia and Assisi, is well connected to the national and regional road networks.
